  • Modular storage wall

I'm planning on soon adding a track/slat wall type system to my shop.

I was initially planning on building a french cleat system, as I've done this in the past with good success.

However, I've recently seen a slightly different take on that system where-by, instead of a 45 (or 30) degree slanted hook, there's simply a square hook (i.e., like a run of 1x3, lengthwise across the wall, with 3.25" of hardboard glued on top to provide a lip).

Is there any advantage to this system over a french cleat?

The french cleat seems easier, and studier, imo, but I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

    Thanks,
