I've done a few modifications since these shots, and really should get some new pictures done, but right now my shop is buried in the stuff ready to be rolled out for a yard sale we're going to have this weekend.

Here's a few pics of my basement shop. The piping all runs to 1200 cfm dust collector in the shed outside.

Okay, here's mine. One shot pretty much shows it all. Current project is a bigger, sexier saw till, because right now it's full of Medallions, and there will be more. Oh, yes. There will be more. So a bigger, worthier till is in the works.

Geez, you should see my hydro bill...

I do actually have two power tools that see very occasional service. I have a bench grinder that I use for serious hogging of metal (like when I'm modifying something) and I have a cordless drill that I use only when I'm drilling a hole close to an obstruction where I just can't get the breast drill to work properly. It's happened three times so far.

I wear ear-plugs, steel-toes, and safety glasses 60+ hours per week at work. I don't want to wear them at home. It's also nice to be able to work in the shop at 5am on a Sunday and not worry about waking anybody up (except on that rare occasion when I forget and start at something with a mallet).

Hey Paul...its just like having your mother-in-law come to visit...you clean up, whether it needs it or not. It rarely looks that clean except for picture taking time.

                      Hey Mike -
I'm curious about your 'BlueCanGroup' d/c cyclone-apparatus-looking-thingy. I can see the outlet to the craftex - does it inlet to the bottom can? Baffle in the middle? Length of outlet into top can? Anything you'd change?
I have an assortment of cans and some half baked ideas, but experience would be helpful.

Fred, that photo of Mike's is at least 3 years old, if not 4. He built himself a wood-magazine-plan cyclone long ago. So that blue gizmo is long gone.

If I were building something like that now, I'd look at Phil Thien's plans over on his web page. Phil has posted some recent comments about very surprisingly good results with his pre-separator on other forums.

                          My two cents,

                            Hi Fred

Art's right, my poorman's cyclone disappeared years ago, and you're right again those pics are over 4 years old. I copied mine from Wally and I see he posted pics.

This is what I'm running now a Wood Mag's cyclone. I've changed it some on Bill Pentz's advice. I raised the can onto a platform and enlarged the outlet to 8". I used to get clogging but not since the outlets been enlarged.

I'd like to upgrade to a 3hp Dust Gorila but the configuration is wrong compared to my setup now.

                            More shop pics here.

My shop is in a separate building. I don't have to worry about sawdust filtering through the house. The bldg. is 22' x 28' some pics are here

looking at Bill's router table gives me the impression that great minds think alike.
