  • Shop coats

I have come accustom to wearing a Shop coat while working in the shop . They keep some of the dust off so I don't drag too much into the house.
The problem is that I can not find what I am looking for in this neck of the woods. I have a couple that are worn out and would like to replace them. I like 3/4 length , fitted, with pockets, of course and about the same weight material and color as LV's turning Smock .
Hope you guys can help me find a supplier.
    Thanks
    Fred

I was going to suggest a medical supply company, but they probably wouldn't have anything in the weight you're thinking of.

Happily and woefully out of date
... and not buying the upgrade!

What about a turners smock or would that be long enough?

KC, I have the turner's smock but wanted something for general shop duties, with 3 pockets on the front.
Actually the length is perfect ! I may be wrong in saying 3/4 length but the length of the turner's smock is what i would like .

Thanks. I'm heading out there tonight to see what they have available because a kilt is just not the right attire for woodworking. Also, not a good idea if I'm going to be moving a bunch of boxes and furniture in a couple of months.

I mean, I'm fine with it. I'm just thinking of my neighbours. I don't want to get complaints from the Islamic School up the street.

Thanks for the info. Tried Mark's here in town, didn't have my size.
Murphygear doesn't have the color in stock so I will keep looking until I can get to a larger city that has more than 1 Marks.

                Thanks again.

If you like Mark's product you can buy it "on- line".
In my area, Canadian Tire has a section of the store for Marks products so perhaps yours does too? Of course CTC now owns Marks WW.

Fred -- Look for a linen supply & cleaning company where ever you are. They supply to companies and garages and so forth. I buy mine used from them as when a person quits or gets fired his coats get retired. I bought 3 almost new coats for $30 the last time. FWIW JMHO.

                        Re: Shop coats

Is it not bad practice to wear anything with loose long sleeves while operating machinery? I worked in a welding shop for a summer and saw someone using gloves operating a drill and a glove got caught in the bit...good thing he did not get hurt.

I'm with Wally on this one. That's where I get mine. Try dry cleaners and uniform supply houses.

Funny you should mention gloves getting caught in machinery. I was at a safety training meeting today and I mentioned a place I worked in that required everyone to wear gloves at all times no matter what your doing. I didn't think it was safe. They didn't seem to care.

Wally , thanks for the tip on the linen supply & cleaning company as a source. Picked up 2 yesterday for $ 19 . One was $ 12 and $ 7. The latter on had some glue on it so they reduced the price. They should see my old coat !!!
