  • Speed control for shop vac

I had a 20 year old Craftsman shop vac that has a built in rotary speed control. It came in handy for things like dust pickup while attached to my sander, strong enough to pick up the dust but doesn't impede sander movement. What sort of gizmo would I need to get the same thing with my single speed Ridgid.vac.

you could try a router speed controller, I think shopvacs have universal motors.
