  • Universal Dust Free Router Hood - finally

Thumbing through the latest Busy Bee Spring Catalogue, I came across this Universal Router Dust Hood.
    https://www.busybeetools.com/product...od-oneida.html
There is also a catalogue item which includes a 6 foot hose. The hose is a $30.00 up charge, but might be worth it if the port is an off-size like the Triton.
I have this functionality in my Triton router, but not my other two routers. While not perfect, it does make a difference in mess containment.
Hopefully Oneida and Busy Bee have a winner here.

    Don,
I ordered it online a year ago and my experience with this product was terrible.

    After one use it broke.

I was hoping it would be comparable to festool router dust connector. Not even close.

Well so much for that idea. Thanks Stan.
      Is the Festool addon "universal"?

It's also kind of inexpensive to save your lungs.

Did you contact Oneida? they usually have good customer service.

When Im doing a lot of hand routing (i.e. not in the table) I use a pedestal oscillating fan.
I set it close to where I am working blowing away from me.

Doesn't do anything for the big chips but seems to move a lot of fine dust - judging by what I see on the machines across the room after I am done.

You could also use an air filter (either purchased or homemade) http://woodgears.ca/dust/air_cleaner.html

You could build a homemade air filter for a few hours and under $50.

FYI I have an air cleaner similar to the linked one mounted to the ceiling in my shop.
I run it when I am sanding/ routing/ cutting sheet goods etc

My completely unscientific tests (visual observation) tells me it can clear the air in the shop in about a half hour.

Swore a few times, threw it in one of the shop cupboards and thought to myself ...hmmm that was money and time not well spent.

Not as far as I know. Looks to be made specifically for festool routers.
