  • Power carvers - sawdust management

Love to carve, but hate the mess and cleanup. I would love to see or hear of ideas to reduce the amount of mess.

I was thinking of making a tear down booth that’s essentially some copper tubing and shower curtain something like that.

But looking for other ideas as well.

Re: Power carvers - sawdust management

My first question is do you have a dust collector or good shop vac?
If yes then build a large hood big enough for you to get wood, hands, and power carver in.
If no then shower curtain will contain most of the debris in a confined area making it easy to use a broom and dustpan to clean up.
I have shower curtains mounted on good old fashioned I beam curtain rails with the little wheeled curtain hooks on both sides of my lathe and it certainly contains a lot of the mess into a small area instead of all over the shop.
Curtains came from $ store and I used 4

I do have a shop vac dust collection system, but seems underpowered for the chips that fly! I like the setup you have, I could probably do something similar with my garage, using the door rails to hang the curtains
