  • Bought a Tranny. Help !

    Got this at an Auction for $1 , it says 120 primary and 220 secondary, stupid question but can I actually run something up to 18 Amps on 220?

    Basically yes, it should handle that continuously though it will get quite warm.

      What kind of draw on the 120 would you need ?
      Not to run it at 18 amp but say 10 amps ?

            Why on earth do that? lots of people want to run a 240v circuit even if only to use a vfd on a drill press. This allows it to be accomplished without hard wiring, no electrician or permit required.

              Well if someone wants it they can have it. It has odd outgoing powwr plugs.

                There are 2 issues with that transformer

                1) it doesn't have an electrical approval so it can't be used.

                2) if it is a single winding 220 volt secondary, it's going to result in a system that's more than 150 volts to ground, that could also be a problem.
