    Default Toolex Jointer (6")

    Hey Folks,

I've been looking for a jointer for a long time, I found a 6" Toolex on Kijiji asking price is 200$.

    Model is ct-15.

The nice fellow says it's in great condition, blades are sharp and the bed is true. I literally cannot find any reviews or information on it on the internet.

I know the history of Toolex and Federated, but I'm just wondering if this is a bad investment. 200$ for a jointer I badly need seems too good to pass up.

sounds like a decent price for an asian import and federated is well known for quality tools

id call them and see what they think of the machine

take some lumber when you go see it and check its performance carefully

I had a Toolex 8"er and it earned it's keep and then some. A Pal of mine has the machine that you're looking at and it's definitely a good value if not a great jointer at $200. It's light weight and a bit flimsy but if you set it up right and it's for home use it'll earn it's keep and your respect.

    Buy IT !

I have the same one, have had it for at least 10 years. No problems at all.

    I bought it from Federated.

    Enjoy............ Doug

    Thanks gents!

Heading out to pick up the jointer tonight.

Probably will have to take the extensions off for transporting, not sure what I'm up against there.

    Any tips?

Those ain't extensions! Take the jointer off the base but leave the jointer proper assembled. It's not impossible to do what you suggest but it is too much work and you may or may not put it back together easily and properly. If you must disassemble just pull the outfeed table.

I agree with Chris totally. If You have to disassemble it you are going to be one sorry dude unless you are great at dealing with realignments of thousands of an inch. I'd rent a U Haul before I took it apart.

Right on! But pronounce "toy" like "tool" around family members.
