Thread: Firefox wants to update Windows Drivers?

  1. #1

Default Firefox wants to update Windows Drivers?

When I obtained my new computer I loaded Win 8, Firefox and Chrome. I have since got rid of Chrome and Firefox may be the next to go.

Anyway Firefox has a message on my screen "Update Windows Drivers". I don't want to Update Windows Drivers but I can't get rid of that blinking message on Firefox's homepage.

Someone must know how. Kindly let me in on the secret! Thanks.

I believe you have the Conduit malware. What ever you do don't click on it because then it will flood you with pop-up adds. Go to this web site: http://malwaretips.com/blogs/conduit-search-removal/

    Good luck,

Hi George; The only program I can find in my Control Panel is one called "Search Protect" publisher "Conduit". I have uninstalled it but it still shows up on Firefox's front page. It's still there even after I reboot. I have no other programs that have been installed in 2014.

Download spybot seek and destroy. It will clean up most spyware. Don't give up on Firefox, spyware infestation is much worse with IE.

Mack, you need to follow the instructions from:
Remove Conduit Search from Mozilla Firefox

in the link. Also, click down next to the search box and click Manage Search Engines. You can delete Conduit from there but first you have to follow the instructions in the link.

George & PCott. You are dealing with a 78 year old computer nerd. There are books written about what I don't know about computers.

I can't find anything that you gentlemen are trying to help me with. Although when I search "remove conduit search from MF, I got many sites that will do it, but I'm nervous about clicking on any of them!

That will be the offender there, 1 more step, and all should be well.

click on the "firefox" button on the top left, (or if you have the menu bar enabled click on tools,) then go to options.

On the "general" tab of the options there should be a box for the "home page"

change the nasty conduit search to https://www.google.ca or http://forum.canadianwoodworking.com or whatever you want it to be then click OK.

I removed the very same malware last week from IE.
It has nothing to do with Firefox or Chrome. It has to do with the website you visited, or software you downloaded. The only sure way to avoid the risk is pretty severe - you'd have to stop using the internet and any external media.
